Turtle Island Reads Launch

LEARN is proud to be one of the partners along with McGill University, CODE, CBC Montreal, and The Quebec Writers Federation in the Turtle Island Reads initiative. Turtle Island Reads (TIR) puts a spotlight on Indigenous writing by connecting authors and their writing with all readers, but especially with secondary school students.

The Launch of CBCTurtle Island Reads took place on Wednesday, September 19th during McGill’s Indigenous Awareness Week in the Thomson House at McGill University. The evening was hosted by CBC Montreal radio personality Nantali Indongo. Three schools were selected as Turtle Island Reads champions to work closely during the school year with the Turtle Island Reads 2018 book advocates, Kanien’kéha film-maker and director Tracey Deer, visual artist Dayna Danger, Inuit actress and singer Lucy Tulugarjuk.
