ACCENTQUEBEC.COM LAUNCHES APRIL 13, 2018
A bilingual online platform compiling French cultural and educational resources for the second
language to live beyond the classroom for all ages and stakeholders.
Dorval, April 12, 2018 – Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB), LEARN, Canadian Parents for French – Projet Québec and the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages are thrilled to announce the launch of AccentQuebec.com, a bilingual online platform providing curated resource collections in French designed to support teachers, students and parents to improve their experience of French as a Second Language (FSL) in and out of school. AccentQuebec.com will be live as of tomorrow.
A truly collaborative effort, AccentQuebec.com was developed to raise awareness of the culture of Francophone Quebec society by encouraging the active and committed participation of young Anglophones from Quebec in their community.
AccentQuebec.com is designed for French as a second language speakers of all levels. Activities for beginner-, intermediate- and advanced- French speakers will be promoted through Accent Québec. The platform caters to educators, parents, elementary and high school students who are looking to move their French language acquisition beyond the classroom.
“We’ve seen a strong desire in the English-speaking community to improve French skills in order to increase full participation in Quebec society,” said Julie Paré, pedagogical consultant at LEARN. “Accent Québec’s mission is to support this pursuit and to provide opportunities to use French that are engaging, fun, and match a diversity of interests,” adds Marc-Albert Paquette, pedagogical consultant at Lester B. Pearson School Board.
The AccentQuebec.com portal can be accessed at www.accentquebec.com. The launch will be at 10h45 tomorrow at the Sheraton Dorval (555 Boulevard McMillan)l as part of the 37e Association québécoise des enseignants de français langue seconde conference.
