What is Encounters with Canada?

More than 84,000 students (ages 14 to 17) have already taken part! Encounters with Canada - our country's largest and foremost youth forum, and LEARN's newest partner - brings together young people from across the country for a week of citizenship, leadership and career-exploration activities in Ottawa.



Students who attend this bilingual program:
  • Take Part in hands-on workshops and cultural activities
  • Explore possible future careers
  • Learn from experts in a variety of fields
  • Take part in fascinating theme-related outings
  • Explore Canadian institutions like no tourist can
  • Meet 120 - 130 other young people from across the country
  • Live the experience of a lifetime!

Participants can choose from one of the following theme weeks:
  • Arts & Culture
  • Science & Technology
  • Sports & Fitness
  • Medicine & Health
  • Law
  • RCMP
  • Journalism & Communications
  • Canada Remembers
  • Politics in Canada
  • International Affairs
  • Ecology & Environment
  • Vimy: Canada's Coming of Age
