Community The Kindergarten Community 


The NEW Kindergarten PLC

The Kindergarten Professional Learning Community (K-PLC) is in a "sheltered" area, accessible only to its members.  It is a place to communicate your needs, share your experiences, and keep up with what's going on in Kindergarten in Québec.

Joining the K-PLC will give you access to resources shared by teachers, student teachers, board consultants and the LEARN team. It also gives you access to people you wouldn't normally be able to contact: teachers and consultants in other school boards,  MELS Kindergarten professionals, university professors.  And everyone benefits insofar as everyone accepts to contribute something: resources, information, opinions, help, ... whatever you can.

Kindergarten Café Events

The Kindergarten Café is a Live Meeting Event where you can meet guest speakers for a conference or a question & answer session on topics that concern us. These happen in Live Classroom (accessible from your Personal  Learn Homepage).

The schedule is posted in our community calendar  and sent out via the Kindershare Mailing list.

The Kindershare mailing list

KinderShare is a bilingual mailing list for Kindergarten teachers, consultants, resource people and experts in the preschool education programme. We use it to ask questions, to share our experiences, to get support.  It's also used by teachers who would like to find a partner class for a telecollaboration activity. All you have to do is to SUBSCRIBE.

Kindergarten News Feed

The LEARN RSS News Feeds allow you to receive information in a timely fashion, when it is most convenient for you. The Kindergarten section of LEARN has its own news feed, where we list, collect and keep track of all announcements related to Kindergarten on the site.  It will also announce K-PLC activity so persons without LEARN usernames and passwords can be notified.

How to use an RSS Feed

Just as for podcasts, in order to have access to an RSS news feed, you must subscribe to that feed. The only difference is that a news feed will provide text rather than audio content.

Generally, to view the content of an RSS feed on your computer, you need an RSS news reader. There are readers available which you can download.  An alternative is to use a Web-based module.  For example, users of Google or My Yahoo! can add an RSS feed directly in their personal home page.

You simply copy and paste the feed's URL in the appropriate field of your reader to begin receiving LEARN news in your RSS application.  It's ythat simple!
